WEBSITE & ART COPYRIGHT 2008 JASON LUCAS/ LUCAS FINEART/ DESHU DESIGN, INC.
What is your work made of?

I use acrylics and lime plasters, although during the process of the work I will occassionally use oil-based paints, colored pencil, oil pastels or any other medium catching my eye. All of the work is applied to heavy-weight canvas and mounted on a wood box. I build all of the frames to last, using strong adhesives and resin to attach the canvas to the box.

The art, always coated with several layers of UV-rated varnish, is topped off with a strong gel medium. Although I have gone to great lengths to protect each piece with sturdy frames and topcoats, one must remember that the basis for many of these pieces is fractured plaster, which is fragile by its very nature. These pieces should be handled and treated cautiously, like art, and not like pieces of furniture.

Where can I find your art?

My work is shown in select galleries across the United States, although primarily on-line at this time. The galleries are listed in my contact page on this website.

What is you creative process?

Although there isn't a great deal of planning in the creation of my work, neither do I force it. The studio is usually set-up and ready to go. When I get inspired, I jump into the process. By the time the art really begins to present itself I'm generally most of the way through the journey.

As the artist, I'm just another tool in the process--no more significant than the brushes or trowels. And, though all of the work begins on large canvas, the finished size is not determined until the very end. The box is then built to scale.

Do you create commissioned pieces?

Yes. Commissioned pieces are 20% over the retail price of a piece the same or similar size dimensions found in a gallery.
